Becoming a Results On Purpose Coach

Frequently Asked Questions

Who makes a great Results On Purpose coach?

At Results on Purpose, we’re looking for coaches who align with our mission to Grow Leaders and create lasting change. The best coaches have the characteristics described below.

A Hunger to Learn and Improve
One of the most exciting aspects of being a business coach is that there is always more to learn, skills to improve, and wisdom to gain.

Trustworthy
Being trustworthy is a combination of character and competence as described by Stephen M.R. Covey in The Speed of Trust. Business owners, their leaders, and all of their employees need to trust in your character so that they can be open, honest, and vulnerable as individuals and teams. They need to trust that you are for them so that when you are asking hard questions or providing important feedback, that it is with their best interests in mind.

Furthermore, they need to trust that you are actually competent (skill, experience, and wisdom) to ask the right questions and provide useful feedback.

An Abundance Mindset
This is a belief that there is plenty of opportunity for everyone who is willing to pursue it. There are more than enough prospects who will become clients and more then enough business for those we coach. The entrepreneur with an abundance mindset executes with patience. For every challenge, they respond with the question, "Where is the opportunity in this?"

The business coach with an abundance mindset heeds the advice of the legendary sales coach Zig Ziglar: “You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”

Experience in Leadership or Business Ownership
Ideally, an aspiring coach will has been a business owner, a key leader in an entrepreneurial organization, or has had meaningful corporate leadership experience.  The successes and the failures in one or more of these roles make it easier to appreciate the opportunities and challenges that business owners and leadership teams face and therefore easier to recognize how to help clients maximize Results On Purpose.

A Passion for People Development
At its core, Results on Purpose is about growing people to grow businesses. The truth is, nearly every problem a business faces boils down to a people issue. At the very least, the solution to every problem begins with a person. Thus, continuous people development is key to the long-term growth and sustainability in every business. Coaching leaders to grow should be exciting.

Who We’re Not Looking For
Results on Purpose Coaching may not be the right fit for everyone. Some people struggle to listen and consider the wisdom of others before rejecting it. This shows a lack of humility or a debilitating stuborness. Some people will struggle with the fear of asking hard or convicting coaching questions or delivering feedback not watered down. They may prioritize comfort and harmony when the situation calls for truth. Finally, may some find it hard to just adhere to the Results On Purpose ecosystem.

For someone who struggles and does not wish to overcome these things, Results On Purpose Coaching would be a poor fit.
