"Borrowing" Toilet Paper and Whatever Else It Takes
I want to share with you a fun story about the spirit of an entrepreneur. Years ago when I was starting out as an entrepreneur, a friend of mine had just left a great job to become an entrepreneur.
We were "solopreneurs" together. We would meet about once a week in the library to help each other work on our plans and hold each other accountable for executing those plans. Years later we were reminiscing and celebrating our successes together.
He shared with me that at the time he was so broke (and by the way we were both really broke), that when we would leave the library he would go in and take toilet paper from the bathroom so he could take it home to his family.
That, in a nutshell, just captures the don’t quit spirit of an entrepreneur. He saw a future that he believed in and he was going to do whatever it took to make it true. Today he has an extraordinary business. He is making a big impact on his community and he can buy lots of toilet paper for his family. He can fill the whole library up if he wants. It’s fantastic!
I share that with you because if you are a new entrepreneur or if you’ve been in business for some time, there have been and there will be those periods where you struggle, where you feel stuck, where you can’t make things go in the right direction.
Just keep going! Stay focused on the future and do whatever it takes (short of stealing) to make it true. Don’t quit! don’t quit! don’t quit!
